Blueprint Announces Blueprint Requirements Center 2008

Blueprint Delivers Requirements Lifecycle Acceleration Platform for Enterprise Deployment

September 17, 2007, Toronto:  Blueprint™, the global leader in Requirements Lifecycle Acceleration™ (RLA™), today announced the availability of Blueprint Requirements Center 2008, the industry's first platform to deliver enterprise-wide requirements definition and visualization. Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 represents the second major release of Requirements Center in less than six months, demonstrating aggressive execution of Blueprint's product roadmap.

Business requirements are the critical link between the business and IT organizations. With the pressure of distributed teams and strategic sourcing on a global scale, ensuring clear requirements definition and understanding is paramount to deliver high-quality applications.

"Blueprint understands that IT operates on a global stage," said David W. Nyland, Blueprint's President and Chief Executive Officer. "When working with distributed enterprise teams, collaboration around requirements definition becomes a critical factor to ensure project success. Blueprint is delivering a solution that ensures complete understanding of business needs by all key parts of the organization associated with project delivery wherever they are located physically."

The release of Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 offers the first platform for enterprise-wide Requirements Lifecycle Acceleration, by enabling teams of users to seamlessly collaborate on business requirements. Geographically separated teams can now simultaneously define requirements assets, perform highly-visual requirements simulations, and blueprint accurate assets directly into Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions.

As part of this release, Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 provides industry-leading functionality including:

  • Blueprint Definition Server: The new Blueprint Definition Server provides a robust central repository for any Blueprint Requirements Center user. All users can access files in one location, and the Blueprint Definition Server adds version control, configuration management, and baseline publishing to ensure the alignment of teams.
  • Blueprint Change Management: The new Blueprint Change Management module enables teams of users to consolidate work-threads into a single baseline. Project managers can now apply rigor and control to the requirements process by accepting or declining changes to application definition blueprints.
  • Enhanced Integrations with ALM Solutions: Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 adds integration with HP Quality Center 9.2 for requirements management and test case generation, and provides the ability to generate blueprints directly into Microsoft Visio.
  • Improved User Experience: Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 offers a superior user experience, with enhanced flexibility for opening and leveraging multiple requirements definition models simultaneously, a new graphical editor for ease of use in building complex use case models, and an easy-to-use set of utilities to explore requirements projects stored in the Blueprint Definition Server.

"Deloitte is in the business of delivering applications that meet business needs," said Terry Stuart, Sr. Partner, Deloitte Consulting. "We have been working with Blueprint and continue to see a tremendous ROI in reducing rework, autogenerating ALM assets (including requirements management and test cases), and ensuring alignment of project teams. Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 takes the solution to a new level, providing built-in change management, enterprise-wide distributed team collaboration, and ease of use to accelerate adoption by our teams."

"Requirements Center is ready for the enterprise," said Matthew Morgan, Blueprint's Chief Marketing Officer. "Over half of the development teams we work with are distributed, where the business may sit in another location, or on another continent. Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 is the only RLA™ solution designed specifically to address the challenges of this reality."

Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 is a role based suite, with a set of solutions purpose built for key strategic touch-points within the application lifecycle. Editions of Requirements Center 2008 include a suite designed for the business analyst, the application developer, and the quality assurance tester.

Existing Blueprint customers leveraging previous versions of Blueprint Requirements Center qualify for an upgrade to Blueprint Requirements Center 2008 as part of their maintenance agreement. Blueprint Requirements Center Analyst, Developer, and Tester are all available immediately.
