Blueprint Achieves Record Growth
April 14, 2008, Toronto: Blueprint™, the global leader in Requirements Solutions for software Business Analysts, achieved record revenue growth for the third quarter of 2008, which ended March 31, 2008. Through the rapid adoption of Blueprint Requirements Center™ 2008, the company more than doubled revenue and customer wins from the same period a year ago.
Blueprint recorded a number of global enterprise-license-agreement (ELA) transactions in the quarter. Global enterprises are finding significant value in Blueprint’s visual approach, distributed team capabilities, and deep integration with HP Quality Center™.
"Software development project teams are dealing with more complexity and assuming more risk than ever before, increasing demand for Blueprint Requirements Center," said Blueprint's CEO David Nyland.
There is an 'inflexion point in risk' in 2008 that threatens to worsen the already poor track record of software development projects. Recent industry studies demonstrate that modern software projects on average spend 40% of effort on rework, and as a result, over 80% of software projects overrun budgets, miss schedules and substantially reduce delivered functionality. This inflection point relates to three new challenges:
- First, a dramatic increase in the use of distributed and outsourced development organizations separating business analysts from developers and testers.
- Second, complexity escalating due to a surge in global mergers-and-acquisitions, escalating obsolescence and need to upgrade heavily customized enterprise-wide packaged systems such as SAP and Oracle, and the negative cumulative impact on software complexity of many years of runaway projects and rework.
- Third, IT organizations are under increased pressure to align with the business, requiring rationalization and revitalization of software assets to eliminate waste and link every investment to business priorities and needs.
These new challenges require software requirements to be accurate, validated and easy to understand. Otherwise, rework levels threaten to worsen to greater than 60%, dramatically impacting the time-to-market for revenue generating capabilities.
"We are pleased that global enterprises are adopting our approach and seeing huge performance improvements allowing Blueprint to grow and expand our market presence, and further extending our lead in the market," said Nyland.
The company was also recently named a 'Cool Vendor' in Application Development by leading analyst firm Gartner. For more information on the Cool Vendor recognition, please visit www.blueprintsys.com.
